Leroy Raymond Stambaugh “Bubba” or “Buckwheat” was born 12/29/40 to Cale and Bethel Stambaugh, and went to be with his Lord on 07/02/17. He is survived by his wife of 39.6 years Ramona Stambaugh, (although he promised her 40) his son Chris Stambaugh (Missy Stambaugh) and his daughter Bethany Shettler (Casey Shettler) Grandchildren Dane and Audin Stambaugh, Cynthia and Scarlette Shettler. Leroy attended Sunfield High School where he graduated in 1959. He was a 4-year letter winner in Baseball and Basketball for the Wolves, achieving All-State status in Baseball in 1959. Leroy loved baseball, where he went on to pitch for Sullivan’s in Grand Rapids where he earned a bull pin tryout from then scout/Manager Bob Sullivan for the Tigers, to which he politely declined because he didn’t think he was good enough (and he had work to do). His love for anything U of M is evident to anyone who knew him, and utter distain for anything green and white except his lumber degree he received there. During his time as a police officer, he had the honor and privilege to give his wife her first (and only) ticket in his own truck. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them how to cook, tend to the garden, driving his Gator, and even rolling grandma’s cigarettes. Leroy enjoyed watching his grandsons play football and baseball. He loved tending to their property, and the home they built together. (Deemed as “One Hell of a House Bitch”) But most of all, he adored and loved being with his wife. (As long as it didn’t interrupt watching The Young and the Restless) He always made time for those in need, giving his energy, time and resources freely. He will be greatly missed. There will be a gathering of family and friends at their home at 7541 W St. Joe Hwy Sunfield, Mi 48890 July 8th from 2-5pm. Donations in Leroy’s name can be made to the Sunfield Area Spy’s, the Sunfield Fire Department, or the family to help with funeral costs.  To light a candle or leave a memory of Leroy, please visit www.RosierFuneralHome.com
