TODD EVAN RAKESTRAW, age 54 of Lansing, MI, left this earth unexpectedly on Feb. 9, but met his Heavenly Father and rejoined his earthly father that same day. Todd was born Nov. 4, 1963 in Lansing, MI to Jim and Phyllis Rakestraw. He graduated from Waverly HS in 1982. Todd joined, and later took over, the family business, Rakestraw Carpet and Furniture Cleaners, which he ran with his father, Jim, until Jim’s passing in 2012. Todd met the love of his life, Tami (Reeser) while attending South Church, and they married in 1992 and continued to attend South their entire life. Todd was very proud of his children, Austin James (AJ) and Nicole (Nikki). He was frequently coaching and attending his kids sporting events or at home spending quality time with them. Todd was an avid fife player and civil war reenactor, part of Camp Chase Fifes & Drums Corp and was a SUVCW Brother. Todd was a man’s man, and a “dude” to his guy friends, who loved him for his sense of humor, his athleticism and his ability to make every moment better just by showing up. Todd is survived by his mother: Phyllis; his wife Tami and two children; his brother Jeff (Lori); and his sister, Jill (Marc Emery), and numerous other family members. A Memorial service will be held Sat., Feb. 17 at South Church, 5250 Cornerstone Drive, Lansing, with visitation at 10 and memorial at 11am.
