April Lorene (Rethamel) Mingus

April Lorene Mingus (Rethamel), age 61, passed away peacefully at her home in Sunfield, Michigan on October 8, 2017. April was born to Wyman & Helen Burleson on January 23, 1956. As April took her final breath she was lovingly held by her husband Mark, daughter Shannon, and future son in law Jim. April had suffered a year and a half long battle with end stage COPD. In the last week of her life she was cared for at home by Shannon and Mark, along with the great folks at Great Lakes Hospice.

              April was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and special niece Jamie Keeler. April is survived by her husband of 34 years, Mark, cherished daughter Shannon Gonser, future son in law Jim Ranshaw, step-daughter Bria (Hoa) Luu, beloved granddaughters Lindsey (Jared) McConkey and Allison Gonser, step-grandson Indigo, sweet great-granddaughter Peyton McConkey, brothers Dennis (Pam) Rethamel, Rick Rethamel, Brian (Greg) Burleson, sister Diane Rethamel, several nieces and nephews, many special friends, and her kitty Sassy.

              April loved her family fiercely. She loved to work in her vegetable and flower gardens and loved to cook. She also loved to go on little adventures with Shannon that included shopping (there may have been some shoe throwing involved) and lunch, trips to Manistee with Mark, and had the time of her life on a trip to Italy with her brother Brian several years ago. April will be missed immensely but we receive comfort in knowing she can breathe easy and suffers no longer.  The family is planning a memorial for April in the coming weeks.
