Gary Lynn Gibbs, 77 of Eaton Rapids, MI passed away peacefully on February 14th, 2019 with family by his side, at Veterans Administration housing in Battle Creek, MI. He was born October 24th, 1941 in Lansing, MI the first child of Leslie and Mary Jane (Jones) Gibbs. For Gary life began on the Gibbs farm on Gale Road in Eaton Rapids. He was no stranger to hard work, but eventually had six younger siblings to help in the milking of the cows and doing other farm chores. Gary enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in October of 1960 where he served as an Aviation photography technician. Honorably discharged October 16th, 1966 Gary returned to Eaton Rapids where he continued his passion of pitching Fast pitch Softball, earning many awards and accolades. Gary was also an avid golfer, bowler, hunter, fisher and motorsports enthusiast.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Carol Gibbs McNamara and Sandra Gibbs, and Brother-in-law Pat McNamara.
Gary is survived by his children Scott Bodenhammer, Dan (Jodee) Ford, Kim Gibbs, Jeff (Betsy) Gibbs and Roberta Janisse, sixteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, his siblings Patty (Norm) Hyatt, Bonnie DeLano, Bill (Diannia) Gibbs, Dick Gibbs, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service 11:00 am – Wednesday February 20, 2019 at Kilpatrick United Brethren Church. Visitation 10-11 am Wednesday February 20, 2019, all at the Church. Graveside services with Full Military honors 2:30 pm Wednesday February 20, 2019 Fort Custer National Cemetery.
