Losia Marks Obituary

Losia Lauralye Marks

December 1, 1938 – December 7, 2018

Losia Lauralye Marks was born on December 1, 1938 to Evelyn and Gregory Harrison. She was named after her Grandma Losia Kirtland. A couple of years later, she was adopted by

Adam Gunn after he and Evelyn were married. She was later joined at home by her sister Kathleen and brother Hugh. One of her fondest memories growing up was spending her

summers in Sunfield Mi, helping her Grandma and Grandpa Kirtland at Kirtland’s Drug Store. In her last days, she shared how she still runs up and down the stairs to see who the new

customer was or to help. During this time, she made friends that she would enjoy throughout her life; Kay and Yvonne are two that come to mind, yet we know there are many more, for she

enjoyed going to the Sunfield High School Reunions following her Saturday of bingo at the Sunfield Farmers Picnic. She graduated from Sexton High School in 1956 and would go on to

attend Michigan State University for a short time, not bad for having to repeat kindergarten! She would eventually meet a young man named Ronald Louis Marks and marry him and settle down in Lansing Mi. While in Lansing, the family grew to 6 by the addition of Michelle, Mitchelle, Drew and Tracy, who all survive today. The family would move to Dimondale, Mi where Losia enjoyed

making new lifetime friends and playing softball. The family moved again to Lake Odessa Mi, into a house on Saubee Lake 4 doors down from her mom and dad and 2 doors from her sister

Kathy. During this time, Losia was working at the State of Michigan as the supervisor of the Medicaid hotline and always enjoyed her time there, making mischief with her partner in crime,

Maria. Her husband Ron died in March of ’94 and Losia retired and moved back into Lansing, where she would spend a lot more time with her friends, Gloria, Ann, Yovonne and Mumme,

gambling and traveling, both favorites of “Lucky Losia”! She also devoted a lot of her time to helping, watching sporting events and attending school activities of her grandkids: Chad, Louis,

Corey, Losia, Ashlee, Keegan and Haylee, great grandkids Makayla, Chad, Jaxson, Landon, Violet and Layla which were the pride of her life. She was saddened just months before her own death by the

passing of her great granddaughter Makayla Hosteler. She wintered many years in the Florida Keys, Mile Marker 38 just the other side of the 7. While there she enjoyed going to the pool,

playing cards, going to bingo and just taking it easy. Towards the end of her life Losia was challenged with health issues and her family stepped in to make sure she was happy and well

taken care of the rest of her great life. Some other things of mention are how much she loved the MF Reunion and the Christmas parties of the MFers and Gunn’s. Losia leaves behind a

legacy of love and caring, and those who knew her will attest was beyond reproach! She truly enjoyed the calls, cards and prayers and would talk kindly about each and every one of you:

Adam, Deb, Joe, Glenn, Altsheffels, Cummings, Cornwells. If you knew Losia, trust she is in a better place smiling down with nothing but hope for you to have a great time living your life!
