Wilma L (Gage) Holton

Wilma L. Holton 88 of Sunfield, passed away peacefully at Sparrow Hospital on the morning of November 4th, 2018 at 9 AM, surrounded by her by her loving family. Wilma was born on May 31, 1930 to Lloyd Ernest Gage and Lula May Lyons in Grand Ledge, Michigan.  Wilma and Neil met at his dad’s gas station where she was having her car fixed. 

They quickly fell in love and were married on July 9th, 1959.   They spent the next 59 1/2 years together and were truly devoted to one another!

Her marriage to Neil was the joy of her life along with her 3 children whom Neil adopted, followed by 3 more children together. 

Wilma loved going to horse shows with Martha, her oldest daughter.  When Martha passed away in 1982, Wilma and Neil took in all of Martha’s animals.  Often you would see Wilma out taking care of the horses and even pitching manure.  If she wasn’t taking care of the horses she was out in the garden. 

Neil and Wilma loved to can the vegetables from the garden to help raise their 6 children.  Wilma was a hard worker all of her life and loved hanging out with her sisters and brothers and special niece. 

We did so much as a family growing up, like traveling to Florida several times and camping in the summer and every holiday at Engle Wood campground over by Gun Lake.

In the last few years of her life, when she couldn’t get around as much, Neil built her a bird feeder so she could watch the birds at the kitchen table. 

Family was very important to Wilma and she cared for us all in many ways throughout her life.  She will be greatly missed by all of us who have known and loved her.  We will always remember her for the ways in which she enriched our lives through her kind thoughts and deeds. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 7, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm at Sunfield United Brethren Church.  A Memorial Service will be held Thursday November 8, at 11 AM with Pastor Danny Stoneham officiating, all at the Church.
