Alma Lyon Obituary

Alma “Pam” Floy Lyon (Blair)

March 22, 1944 – March 23, 2026

Alma “Pam” Floy Lyon, 82, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, just one day after celebrating her birthday.

Pam was born on March 22, 1944, in Tecumseh, Missouri. As a young woman, she moved to Michigan, where she built a life rooted in hard work, faith, and family.

She began her career at Borgess Hospital as a nurse’s aide and later became a surgical technician, a role she took great pride in. Her years in healthcare were deeply meaningful to her and reflected her strong work ethic and independence.

On August 11, 1966, she married the love of her life, Larry Hampton Lyon. Together, they built a life centered around family, creating a home in Sunfield, Michigan, and later helping to build a cherished red cabin near Curtis, on the same property where Larry grew up. The cabin became a special place for generations of family, filled with summer memories, laughter, and togetherness.

Pam was a woman of deep faith and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Her faith guided her life and was reflected in the way she cared for others and welcomed people into her home.

She was known for her many talents and the love she poured into everything she did. An exceptional seamstress and quilter, Pam created countless handmade quilts over the years, ensuring that each child and grandchild received one of their choosing. These quilts remain treasured keepsakes for her family.

Pam was also an incredible cook who found joy in bringing people together through food. One of her most beloved traditions was baking a wide variety of Christmas cookies each year, including buckeyes, peanut blossoms, fudge, and date pecan balls. She lovingly shared these treats with family, friends, and neighbors, spreading warmth and holiday cheer.

She had a deep love for her family and took great pride in her children and grandchildren. She especially cherished watching her grandchildren grow and pursue their own paths, celebrating their accomplishments and milestones.

Pam is survived by her loving husband, Larry Hampton Lyon; her daughter, Lisa Shaltry; her son, Jayson Lyon; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lyon; and her grandchildren: Matthew Shaltry, Jessica Shaltry, Marissa Shaltry, Cole Lyon, Connor Lyon, Camden Lyon, and Claire Lyon. She is welcomed into eternal rest by her parents, Homer and Ina Blair, as well as many siblings.

She will be remembered for her strength, her steady faith, her hardworking spirit, and the love she gave so freely to those around her.

A small service will be held at a later date, with details to be shared with family and friends once arrangements are finalized.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of Lansing & Stoneleigh Residence in gratitude for the incredible, tender care they provided during Pam’s final days: https://hospiceoflansing.org/…
