Colleen (Hull) Bird (76) was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family.
She was born to Phyllis (Benjamin) Hull, who preceded her in death. She survived by her loving sister, Kathy Vanderske, her “little sis”.
Colleen was the proud mother of three children, and her family grew to include eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren were truly the apple of her eye. She treasured every photo she received and spent countless hours organizing, admiring and reliving special memories through her carefully kept pictures. Some of the most cherished times were the many sleepovers filled with laughter, parties and fun when her grandchildren were young.
Colleen was first married to Robert Hickling who survives her and later to Dale Binns who was the love of her life, who preceded her in death. She was also married to Lee Bird who is deceased.
She worked for many years selling manufactured housing and home furnishings, where her eye for style and décor shone naturally. She later resumed her career for the State of MI which originally started at the Liquor Control Commission. Colleen took tremendous pride in her own home – it was always spotless, beautifully decorated and a reflection of her care and attention to detail. She loved spending time with family and especially enjoyed traveling to upper Michigan and admired the beauty of the Mackinac Bridge.
Colleen will be remembered for her love of family, her pride in her home, her warmth and the joy she found in the simple moments, especially those spent surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held with immediate family.
