Dale Eugene Foltz 1932-2022

Dale passed away peacefully on Nov. 2nd, born to Byron and Evelynn on Feb. 14th. Preceding him in death are his parents, Loving Wife of 50+ years Bonnie, Son Patrick Foltz and also good friend Gerald (Jerry) Lade.

He is survived by his daughter Terri Foltz, Grandchildren Andrea and Ryan Root, Bonnie Griswold (Travis), Cody Dennis, Amanda Horsfall (Riley) and Seth Foltz. Great Grandchildren Blake, Hunter, Evelynn, Brayden, Landon, Mackenzie and Raigen. Brother Gary (Barb) and good friend John Fisher. Many nieces and nephews.

Dale was an avid MSU supporter playing as a center wearing #53 from 1952-1954 winning a Rose Bowl and National Championship. He went on to join the Army Reserves as a 1st lieutenant and gaining many degrees while enlisted. He was honorably discharged where he moved his career to the Department of Corrections and made his way up to Warden of the Michigan Reformatory where he stayed for many years. He later transferred to Jackson Prison where he started many reform programs for the D.O.C. He would later retire honorably from Jackson in 1987 with many awards and accolades.

In retirement he enjoyed Golfing with his wife and friends and enjoyed doing work around the golf course. He was an excellent carpenter who taught his grandkids the trade. He was a member of the MSU Alumni Association and a Masonic Brother. He donated to many charities and was always a helping hand.

He was loved by many and his booming voice and warden ways will live on forever. Visitation will be Tuesday Nov.8th from 5-8pm with a Celebration of life Weds. Nov.9th at 11am with a luncheon to follow both being held at Sunfield United Brethren Church at 8436 W. Grand Ledge Hwy., Sunfield.  Flowers may be sent to the Church or you may make a donation in honor of Dale. We ask that we send Dale wearing our Spartan Gear in honor of him.
