George L. Thorp

George L. Thorp. Age 89 of Sunfield, Michigan. Passed away June 17, 2023 at Sparrow Eaton Hospital.

George was born on April 7, 1934 at home, the son of Percy L & Lucretia M. (McDiarmid) Thorp.

George was a full-time farmer. He also spent a lot of time in the U.P. of Michigan.

He and wife Mary did a lot of fishing and deer hunting.

On March 20, 1953 he married Mary Wells. They have 3 children, John, Judy (Scott) Coon, Jim (Kim), and 3 grandsons, Josh (Karla) Ryan, Zachary (Nicole) and Nick (Derri) Thorp and 3 great grandchildren, Lucas and Ty Ryan, and Annalise Thorp.

George was preceded in death by his brother Eric (Bernice) Rice and parents.

George was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite & Shrine.

Funeral service 11:00 AM – Thursday June 22, 2023 at the Sunfield United Brethren Church. Visitation 6-8 PM  Wednesday June 21, 2023 also at the Church. A Masonic graveside committal service at Sunfield Cemetery will follow the Service at the Church, with a luncheon to follow back at the church.
