Janis Elaine Ainsworth

Janis Elaine Ainsworth, Age 82 passed away Wednesday November 10, 2020 at Sparrow Hospital. Janis was born October 18, 1938 in Charlotte MI to Keith and Hildred (Wheaton) Ainsworth. She was a beloved daughter, sister, sweet aunt and great aunt to several nieces and nephews. She is survived by; her brother, Albert (Nancy); her nieces, Catalina (Curt) Holman; Dawn (Darby) Goodemoot; Darcy (Lance) Hazel; her nephews, RoyAL; Kirk; Scott; and Justin Ainsworth; her beloved dog, Trixie; and several great/great-great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her mother, Hildred; her father Keith; her brother, Allan; and her nephew, Lance Ainsworth. She graduated from Vermontville High School, class of 1956. After high school she attended County Normal in Hastings Michigan and got her teaching degree. Soon after she was teaching at a couple of country schools. Later going to Western Michigan University to earn a Bachelors of Art degree. She resided in Sunfield Michigan where she also taught at Sunfield Elementary, retiring after 40 years of teaching. Janis was a beloved Aunt and loved spending time with friends and family. She enjoyed shopping, going out to eat, traveling, golfing, taking art classes, bird watching, and flowers. Janis spent several winters in Florida. She was a member of Order of The Eastern Star Kalamo Chapter 399, Vermontville Women's Club, The 19th Holers in Florida, and The Congregational Church in Vermontville. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her. Graveside services 11:00 AM – Tuesday November 17, 2020 at Sunfield Cemetery. There will be a gathering 10-11AM Tuesday just before the service at the Cemetery.
