Karen Sue (Brandsen) Darling

Karen Sue Darling passed peacefully in her sleep September 12th, 2023.

She was born July 6th, 1953 to Peter and Ruth (Bazan) Brandsen of Ionia.

Karen married Charles Darling of Sunfield on March 14th, 1970.  Karen retired from the State of Michigan in 2016.  Karen loved her flowers and birds.  She would have Charlie make her bird houses and special bird feeders to go along with her flowers and grasses she planted to attract the birds, then they both would sit at the picnic table at night to watch and listen. 

She put even more passion into her grand kids and great grand kids.  Her main goal was to send them home with a smile on their face and sugar running through their veins, because she truly believed it was her job to spoil them and she succeeded…

Karen was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, her parents, and 3 siblings, Robert Brandsen, Gerald Brandsen, and Marlene McKenna.

She is survived by her son Stacy (Patti) Darling, daughter Angela (Joel) Seiler, daughter Kerri (Chad) Taylor, son Scott (Lisa) Darling, son Steven Darling and Brother-in-law Richard Todd.

Chuck and Karen have 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and one more on the way.

Visitation will be on Monday September 18th from 4pm – 7pm.

Services will be held Tuesday September 19th at 11am with a luncheon to follow.

All arrangements are being handled by Rosier Funeral Home with Visitation and services to be held at United Brethren Church in Sunfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J Fox Parkinson’s Foundation or Hospice of Lansing.
