Lawrence Teller Obituary

Lawrence E. Teller

Larry was born October 19, 1926 in Lansing, Michigan and lived there until 1941 when he moved to South Bend, Indiana to live with and work for Fred and Lillian Crocker in their delivery business.

He joined the Army in 1944 and was stationed in the Philippines before being deployed to Japan. While in route to Japan, they surrendered and he was part of the occupation forces stationed in Japan.

After the war he returned to the Lansing area where he met his wife of 70 years, Maxine Newberry.  They remained in the Lansing area until 1990 when Larry sold his business and moved to Sunfield, Michigan.

Before owning his own auto body repair shop, Larry’s Auto Body, Larry worked for Fisher Body, Lyman Auto Body and Bills Body Shop, all in Lansing.

Larry enjoyed many hobbies, fishing, snowmobiling, boating and wood working.  He had a real love of wood working, what started out as a hobby soon turned into an art form and he created many beautiful pieces of furniture.

Larry unashamedly led his family to the Lord and over the years attended Delta Mills UMC, Sunfield UMC and Living Gospel Church.  Larry was a Sunday School and Bible Study leader, Youth leader and worked on and/or chaired many committees in the churches he attended.  He had also been active in the Lyons Club and Habitat for Humanity.

There was never a man who more completely lived a life of honor, integrity and solid work ethic than Larry and he taught these attributes to his children by living them. He was full of wit and loved practical jokes. He always put a smile on everyone’s face.

Larry was proceeded in death by his son, William (Bill) Teller, wife, Maxine (Newberry) Teller and son Frederick (Rick) Teller.  He is survived by his daughter, Laura (Steven) Sharp, 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
