Leona May Binns, age 90, entered the kingdom of God on Monday evening, June 6, 2016. She was born November 12,1925 the surviving twin of two girls. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Lance, and Bernice M. (Collier) Brooke, infant twin sister Leora, sister Beulah, brother Royce and grandson Christopher. She is survived by two brothers, Gerald and Merlin Brooke, and her children: Diane (Klaus) Huser, and sons Duane (Helen) Binns and Roger (Denise) Binns, five grandchildren, Eric, Craig, Kevin, and  Andrea, Justin.  One great granddaughter, Marla. They will dearly miss her.  From an early age on Leona learned about hard work and keeping one’s word. God fearing and industrious, she raised sheep as a member of the 4H club, winning first place at a prestigious state wide 4H competition held in Detroit in 1941.  Her passions were her 3 children and their families, her church and fishing. All her children and grandchildren learned about fishing from her. As an adult she was a life-long member of Sunfield United Brethren Church and supported the women’s missionary group. She was remembered by many students because of her over 20 years as a school bus driver for Lakewood Public Schools (Sunfield).  Also spent many years as the Custodian for Maynard Allen Bank, Sunfield Post Office, and Sunfield United Brethren Church.  Visitation with viewing will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday June 13, 2016 at the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel in Sunfield. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday June 14, 2016 at the Sunfield United Brethren Church with Rev. Randy Carpenter and Rev. Kevin Cherry officiating.
