LuAnn Spitzley Obituary

LuAnn Renee Spitzley

Pentwater, MI

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend went to Heaven on November 14, 2020 after a battle with Covid that took away her lungs. LuAnn Renee Spitzley was born on October 18, 1956 to Bonita and the late Victor Comstock. She met the love of her life and best friend when they were merely children, and started their relationship as high school sweethearts.  She married Daniel Spitzley (son of the late Robert and Laurine Spitzley) on February 7, 1975, and they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this year. They were enjoying their retirement at their home that they designed and built together in the woods in Pentwater, Michigan. She is survived by her loving husband and their two daughters, Danielle (Randall) Shilton and Heather (Todd) Sullivan. She was blessed with 3 grandchildren that she called her “sweetpeas”, Tyler Shilton (Ryan B.), Samantha Shilton, and Skylar Sullivan.  LuAnn had three sisters Darlene, Cindy, and Tamee (Mark) and gained 5 more siblings through marriage: Marv (Silver), Pat (Bill), Jackie (Randy), Annette (Rich), and Julie (Ralph).

She retired from Grand Ledge Public Schools after 21 years as a paraprofessional.  LuAnn also was a Girl Scout troop leader for over 10 years.  She enjoyed word searches, cross stitching, jigsaw puzzles, and golf cart rides.

LuAnn loved life fully and embraced family to the point that she had three nicknames by her grandchildren...grandma, granny, and goog.  She often could be found around the bonfire, or on the pontoon boat having a glass of wine.  For LuAnn, family always came first no matter what.  If you needed her whether phone call or in person, she was there.
