Mary T. Hopp (Maresa), 76, formerly of Elk Rapids, MI, and recently of Portland, MI passed away Saturday March 12, 2016.  Mary was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Donald E. Hopp, her parents Patricia and Thomas, brothers Dennis and Frederick, and a granddaughter, Dallas Maresa.Mary is survived by her children Pattie, Donald, Cathi, T.J. and Dennis, sister Carol and brother Richard, nine grandchildren, a great-grand daughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was a proud Air Force wife, and lived with her husband and children at many military installations over the years. She was a loving mother who supported all of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.  For many years, she was president of the Elk Rapids Band Boosters. She was also a Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother and Little League treasurer.  She loved to watch her children and grandchildren playing sports and playing in the band.
Mary completed many embroidery and quilting projects, which she shared with her family and friends. She was a dog lover, and recycled her quilting scraps to make dog beds for dogs in the Ionia Animal Shelter.
Mary touched many lives in the Elk Rapids community, and will be missed by all.
A Grave Side Service will be held 10:30 AM - Friday March 18, 2016 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.  For those wishing, contributions may be made to the Ionia Co. Animal Shelter in memory of Mary, 3853 Sparrow Dr. Ionia, MI 48846.
The family is being served by the Independent Family Owned Funeral Home in Sunfield: Rosier Funeral Home.
