Merlene Lumbert
Merlene passed away unexpectedly at home on June 27, 2020 at the age of 70. She was born Sept. 21, 1949 in Bonnieville, Kentucky daughter of Cecil and Ruie (Burton) Tackett. When she turned 3, her family initially moved to the Mulliken area and later finally settled in Sebewa. She attended Loucks, Sebewa, and Lakewood High School. At the age of 18, she married the boy next door, Jerry Elmer Lumbert. She was married in Lawton, OK on Nov. 2, 1967 where her husband was stationed. After his discharge, they returned to Michigan to start a family. Merlene had 3 children and was a devoted Mom and Grandmother, as she would always find time for them no matter what. She loved doing antique shows, flea markets, yard sales, and dancing. She loved dancing so much that she would make her younger brother dance with her. She also loved her flower gardens and collecting dolls, which she had a collection of several hundred at the time of her passing. Merlene was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Sue Lumbert, her brothers, John L., William (Hayden), and Delmer Tackett. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jerry E.
