Obituary

Michael S. Bailey, Lake Odessa/Sunfield, MI

 March 22, 1964-April 26, 2022

Mike Bailey was a farmer, a mechanic, and a man who did his best to take care of his family. He started life with his parents Clarence (Mickey) Bailey and Beth (Lippincott) Bailey. Growing up he had the adventures of both crop and pig farming, learning to be his dad's right-hand man at the age of 5, he gained his starting knowledge of mechanics, shooting and finally got to travel the US.

He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1982. During high school he took some automotive classes that allowed him to advance his mechanical skills. This helped on many projects, the first being his pride and joy, his 1965 GMC truck. After buying the truck, he had gotten it running smooth and then put a paint job on it, that included the one cheap color the store had, a burgundy/purple color.  The horn he installed was one of a kind and he loved trying to scare his youngest bonus kid with it.

Mike and Wilma (Highlen) got married August 20, 1987. With this marriage Mike gained two bonus kids Chad Linscott (age 12 then) and Lawanda (Linscott) Figel (age 4 then). Mike and Wilma had two children both girls Betty Jo Bailey and Yvonne Melissa Bailey. Sadly, Yvonne was only given to our family for less than 2 hours.

Mike worked as a Diesel Mechanic and worked for UPS Freight for over 15 years. While working and fixing trucks and trailers during the week, he would then spend many of his weekends in his shop working with his kids, family and/or friends on vehicles that needed his help. On a few occasions he even managed to get his wife out there as well getting her hands dirty.

Besides working on vehicles Mike also enjoyed being a grandpa, shooting guns, teaching his kids and grandkids life skills. Making his wife go for treasure hunts when it came to Christmas and her birthday gifts. Finally, he enjoyed visiting with friends and family.

Mike passed away suddenly in his sleep on April 26, 2022 in his home. He is survived by his wife Wilma, his children Chad, Lawanda, and Betty. Along with his 7 grandchildren, Brandin Linscott, Breanna (Linscott) Palmar and husband James Palmer, Jonathan Figel, Claire Figel, James Bailey, Shawn Bailey, and Marilyn Bailey.

The Viewing will be held on May 2, 2022 from 9:00AM to 11:00AM, followed by the Celebration of life ceremony that will be held at 11:00AM followed by a lunch. This is all held at the United Brethren Church, Sunfield, Michigan.
